I read the novel, in French though, and again I prefer it to the movie

Nice art direction. Didn't really care about the characters, but it was sort of interesting. Falls apart the longer it goes on.

I was totally amazed by it.An exceptional movie.
All three major female characters are unique and the actresses are very skillful , I couldn't find any mistakes.Ken Watanabe is perfect as ever leaving a deep impression in my memory.I can't remember the name of the actor that played Nobu-san ,his character became one of my most beloved through the relatively short time that it appeared on the screen.
The movie is a beautiful story (sometimes sad, sometimes happy) about a young Japanese girl who had been born in this world with blue eyes. Fate takes her in a strange world full of strict rules and harsh punishments .There, while still a child , she meets a man accompanied by Geishas. From now on she dreams and wants to become a Geisha in order to have the chance to be bay the man's side. Luck 'strikes' and she gets the chance to fulfill her dream, but the path she takes it's full of thorns .
We get the chance to learn about the Japanese people and their strange and beautiful customs and sometimes harsh existence. -
