I was not a fan. The concept was neat, but it was more of a secondary story. The whole movie was cheesy, predictable, and annoying. Right from the start I didn't like the male leads, and I knew where the story would take them. It stretched for jokes and connections, and left me groaning in agony for the ending. I found the Taylor Swift song trite. I had low expectations, and I enjoyed the theater and the Italian scenery and language, but the plot was sub-par, the acting decent, and the jokes corny. I was not disappointed, but only because of my very low expectations going in.
Vanessa Redgrave was the acting highlight, and Amanda Seyfried's acting was passable as well, but the other characters were not believable. Chris Egan's character seemed out-of-place, and seemed more like a comic relief character (and a poor one, at that) than a lead. Gael Garcia Bernal's Victor was annoying from the beginning, instead of the distant and distracted that I would have preferred. -
